Medical care and the restricted right to practise

In a letter to the Commission received on 18 November 2008, the Attorney General, the Hon J Hatzistergos issued the following terms of reference:

I request that the Commission inquire into and report on whether it is appropriate to amend the
Medical Practice Act 1992, and in particular the definition of unsatisfactory professional conduct, and any other related like legislation, so as to make plain whether individuals whose legal right to practise medicine is restricted ought to be under any, and if so what, obligation to provide emergency medical care contrary to the restriction on their right to practise.
